Thanks for the post — works well for me so far. I noticed a small error in your chown command to fix the dubious ownership error. You dropped the /System/ from the file path. Should be:

sudo chown root:wheel /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.mine.toggleairport.plist

Cheers~

Joe, I'm glad you are satisfied with your arrangement. But, I have found that since I scripted this little task, I have had less trouble with applications, like Chrome, freaking out when I switch networks. On an added note, I did not have to do anything when I upgraded to OS X Lion. It just kept working.

Joe, a platform-agnostic technology has no faith or disbelief in a platform? I think you are making my argument. "Agnostic" is not good word choice in this context. But, don't worry about me. This crusade doesn't take much of my energy or attention.

I leave my airport on all of the time. When I am plugged in traffic that is not already connected goes over ethernet because it is ranked higher than my airport. There is no need to turn it on an off unless it's interfering with your brian waves or something like that. I usually plug in the ethernet cable while it's still asleep so there are no connections.

An agnostic is someone who claims neither faith not disbelief in God. A platform-agnostic technology is not tied to any particular platform. Your crusade is misguided.

Really, I don't see what the big deal is with posting Mao rules on the internet. Really, I think the "Under no circumstances can you talk about the rules" rule is limited to private discussions with people outside the Mao group, as well as once the game begins (and applies only to rules that have been created by the group). And I see no problem with giving newbies the basic play structure and rules that weren't created by the group, just so we don't wind up brutalizing the newbies with the game. Personally, I'd like to think that the rule changed to my above description.

But then again, I've yet to play myself, but I will say this: The game has to spread SOMEHOW, and if posting the basic gameplay for people who've never met a Mao player but would like to start their own Mao groups is an issue, then this game can develop some serious survivability issues.

I learned with:

7's "i'm feeling lucky"
8's reverse playing order
Ace's "down the rabbit hole" which the next player must play another card immediately (even if it isn't the right suit)
switch to diamonds "forever is a very long time"
switch to clubs "this is an exclusive club"
switch to hearts "off with her head!"
switch to spades "dig it!"

I haven't found any problems with the way this script behaves with the exception that rarely, very rarely, it simply fails to either turn on or off the airport, or at least it doesn't do it fast enough for me, and I resort to doing it manually. Most of the time it works fine when resuming from sleep. As it should as it uses a system monitor which checks for changes to the network preferences.

Do you have any bad behavior when taking these steps:1. sleep, 2. remove the ethernet connection, 3. wake from sleep?
